For sale a rare, one family owned, rust free, 1977 5-Speed 280Z ready for your finishing touches.

Over the past 4 years, we have gone thought this car (receipts, steps, pics available upon request) and are almost done.

What’s left?:
Replacing 40-year-old tinting
Performing some very minor body work (have some rivet holes left behind from removing chrome strips to fill)
Painting (it has a terrible paint job that was done in Saudi Arabia)
Installing NEW Fairlady Z badging and Japanese spec tail fin (if you want)
Getting the clock fixed (these never worked very well from the factory)
Installing a retro stereo system (someone stole our old one!)
Installing a ‘vintage’ AC system (if you want to, we weren’t planning to do so as the car didn’t come with AC from the factory)
Replacing all weatherstripping (we have the kit, just haven’t gotten to it and wanted to do this in conjunction with painting which is the best time to do so)

Why are we selling this car so close to finish? Due to life changes, we will be losing the three-car garage – storage and workspace. It’s heartbreaking as this has been a true father & son effort to rejuvenate this gem.

Notable points:
This Z does not burn oil and the compression is at the top of the factory range.
Second gear does not grind! The Syncro has been babied since it was new and was never stripped
We were restoring this Z to look a bit more like a 240 than a 280 (the huge wart-like bumpers were taken off years ago). We were still trying to decide whether to go bumper-less or use 240 Z bumpers leveraging conversion brackets that are available at ZCarDepot
Valves were adjusted less than 100 miles ago
The suspension has been completely re-worked — all suspension bushings, bellows, ends, etc… have been replaced with new polyurethane components. New struts have been installed (front and back)
We still have all the chrome we took off and will give it to you in case you want it back on
We still have the classic hatch cover – it’s just off now because we thought the car was going to paint. Easy install – but we’d suggest you wait until you paint the car and replace the weatherstripping.
